How to Make Tender & Juicy Tandoori Chicken | Indian Cuisine
Tandoori Chicken is an iconic & healthy North India dish that can be found on the menu of almost every Indian restaurant. Because of its tangy & piquant flavor, the Indian Tandoori chicken is savored with delight in many other parts of the world.
The term Tandoori has been added to the dish from the way authentic tandoori chicken is cooked. Traditionally, marinated chicken is grilled or roasted in a tandoor, a cylindrical clay oven.
Raw chicken is marinated overnight or 4-5 hours a mixture of yogurt (dahi), dry spices & ginger-garlic paste before it could be threaded onto skewers & grilled in tandoor. Often food color is added to the home made Tandoori chicken marinade mixture; however it can be replaced by adding some Kashmiri chili powder. The Kashmiri chili powder lends fiery red color to the tandoori chicken recipe, but it is not as spicy & peppery as its color suggests.
The marinated chicken can also be used as a base for numerous chicken curry recipes, especially Butter Chicken.
